The Green Chair Project
The Green Chair Project, along with 5 other non-profit organizations, has been actively involved in organizing and facilitating a donation drive to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The event was well-organized and has served as a reminder of the importance of fulfilling Dr. King’s legacy and giving back to the community. We thank The Green Chair Project for today’s drive, and we were honored to donate and be a part of the effort shown today by many people as they honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Moving is never easy, and we are doing all that we can to help people coming to Hayes Barton Place! Yesterday, we hosted a “Downsizing Event” at The Green Chair Project at which Charter Club Members and Priority Partners met three local “downsizing” companies who shared information about what they can do to assist with moves to HBP. We also enjoyed a tour of The Green Chair Project and learned about the wonderful services they provide to residents of Wake County. Events like this are invaluable as they help us to build the HBP community, educate about resources such as The Green Chair Project, and help people as they prepare for the move to Hayes Barton Place.
Traditional English Tea with Charles Dickens
Did you know that in the writing of his first novel Pickwick Papers Charles Dickens invented the paperback book, the cliff hanger, and the soap opera?
Charter Club Members and Priority Partners enjoyed a traditional English tea as they took time out of this busy season for some education with plenty of laughter provided by Dr. Elliott Engel. Cheers to Charles Dickens for his many contributions from so long ago that we still enjoy today!
Thank you for organizing the Elliott Engel event on Tuesday afternoon. He was an incredible speaker, and we learned so much about Charles Dickens. The afternoon English tea theme was just perfect to top off the afternoon. You three are the best event planners ever!

3rd Annual Shopping Event
The 3rd annual HBP shopping event at Charlotte’s Village District was an excellent way to kick off the holiday season, discover unique products from a local business, and continue to build the Hayes Barton Place community. Congratulations to Anne (pictured) and Dorothea Bitler for winning the two raffle items, and special thanks to Charlotte’s for hosting this fun HBP event.
HBP is Seeing PINK!
We held a successful fashion show and lunch in collaboration with The Woman’s Club of Raleigh and J.McLaughlin , with proceeds going to The Kay Yow Cancer Fund .
The event was a great way to bring together multiple local organizations while we continue to build the Hayes Barton Place community.
Special thanks go to retailers J. McLaughlin, Charlotte’s , Marta’s of Raleigh, Lamb’s Ear and DressCode Style, Raleigh, NC for outfitting the models in beautiful fall fashions. Even Ms. Wuff made an appearance, making the event that much more entertaining!
Coral Bay “Ballroom Boutique”
This is the third consecutive year that we have participated in the Coral Bay Club’s “Ballroom Boutique” and we are thrilled to be back. This event is a great opportunity for us to connect with Charter Club Members and Priority Partners that live in Eastern North Carolina while sharing information about HBP with new prospective residents.
Jazz in the Garden
Last night’s “Jazz in the Garden” was a spectacular event!
Over 65 HBP Charter Club Members, Priority Partners and their guests enjoyed a perfect June evening at The Woman’s Club of Raleigh’s outdoor pavilion with delicious food from HL Catering Company and music played by the “After Hours” quintet. This party was the perfect way to complete a fun-filled spring for HBP, stay tuned to see the programs, outings and events we have scheduled for the fall with plenty of fun in store for all!
Brava! Brava!
Last night was opening night for “Raleigh” at Theatre In The Park. HBP Charter Club Members and Priority Partners enjoyed chartered transportation to and from the theater, a champagne social before the play, the performance of “Raleigh” and then a party with cast members following the performance. Definitely a fun-filled evening for all 40 of the HBP guests!
Inspire Wellness and Enrichment
Another great event for HBP Charter Club Members and Priority Partners.
At Tuesday’s gathering, Haley Kinne-Norris, the INSPIRE Wellness and Enrichment Coordinator for Liberty Senior Living, discussed The INSPIRE Wellness Program which will be implemented at HBP, and led the group in some fun “exercises” that got everyone moving. Oliver Reinwald from Brasfield & Gorrie then gave a construction update – a few fun facts that he shared were that there will be 3,328 doors in the building (which is the same amount as 5 Biltmore Houses worth of doors), and that HBP will feature 1.3 million bricks which is the equivalent of over 10 hockey rinks of bricks.
First HBP Ladies Brunch
The first “HBP Ladies’ Brunch” was yesterday and it was quite the affair! Charter Club Members and Priority Partners were treated to a fabulous brunch by HL Catering Company, a special performance by The St. Timothy’s School – Raleigh, NC Kindergarten students and everyone left with a “surcie” of peonies from Terra Ceia Farm, LLC. We have already decided that this will become an annual event as we continue to build the wonderful community of people that will call HBP home when we open!
Day Tour “Pilgrimage”
On the road again… this time to Edenton, NC!
HBP Charter Club Members enjoyed a day trip for “The Pilgrimage” home tour, which has been hosted by The Edenton Woman’s Club since 1949. The HBP Charter Club is comprised of people that have already chosen their residences at HBP, and will be moving in as soon as we open. As Brasfield & Gorrie is constructing the physical building, we are putting together the community of people by planning events like this trip to Edenton. Stay tuned to see what other exciting outings and programs are in store for The HBP Charter Club!
Art In Bloom HBP Style
Since “Art in Bloom” will begin next week at The North Carolina Museum of Art, we hosted our own version of “Art in Bloom”, HBP style!
At yesterday’s event, fellowship and fun were in bloom while Floral Designer, Shelley Rice demonstrated for Priority Partners, Charter Club Members and their guests how to create masterpieces based on original works of art.
Here’s to both NCMA’s “Art in Bloom“ and HBP’s “Art in Bloom”, two great opportunities to embrace friendship, artwork, beautiful flowers and creativity!
Lights, Camera, Action!
Charter Club Members and Priority Partners had the best time at last night’s HBP Cooking Class. Houston Loper with HL Catering Company taught the “hands-on” class showing how to make flatbreads from scratch. They were delicious and surprisingly easy! Events like last night’s class are the perfect way for future residents to get to know each other – as the building is being constructed on Oberlin Road, we are building the community of people and it is such fun!
