From Pickleball Partners to Omaha Bound Tar Heels Fans

What began as two neighbors meeting on the pickleball court at Hayes Barton Place has turned into an unexpected friendship with a postseason plan. Now they are packing their bags for Omaha to cheer on the UNC Tar Heels in the College World Series finals.

At Hayes Barton Place, shared interests often lead to lasting connections, and these two are proof. Both balance work schedules, but most mornings with good weather you will find them on the pickleball court.

They first met through the pickleball club, then crossed paths again during the Gobble Games tournament in November. The surprise came when they discovered a loyalty to UNC Chapel Hill baseball, turning it into a road trip to Omaha.

They also take part in men’s breakfast and sports talk programs, but this friendship has found its rhythm on and off the court.

They are heading west with Tar Heels pride in tow.
